Sometimes I write too...

This was something I wrote as a start to a Sci-Fi novel may years ago (2005):

The lower passenger area inside the interplanetary transport, Newfoundland, rattled sporadically as tug droids maneuvered the ship’s hull to a position where the docking clamps of the orbital spaceport Omega could reach it.

Anxious silence, punctuated by short screams, pervaded throughout the dimmed cabin area. Even routine maneuvers like spaceport docking was a cause for nervous trepidation.
The passenger roster was mostly comprised of humankind, mixed with a few other species, indigenous to this sector of space.

Nate was watching a small boy across the cabin show signs of restlessness as he uselessly tried to remove the safety restraints so he could float through the cabin area as he did most of the trip. His mother made attempts to try soothe him but to no avail, he wouldn’t give up. It is a fruitless endeavor, restraints are normally locked in place for the duration of the docking procedure to prevent anyone from floating around and getting hurt through uncertain moments of the transport.

Nate smiled, inwardly thinking “I know how you feel little one. I’m not one for restraints either.”

After being confined to this area for nearly 3 days, the duration of the journey from the wormhole located at the edge of this planetary system to outpost, Omega. Nate longed to be free as well. Orbital Outpost Omega was a space station, orbiting the planet Regal 5, represented the furthest footprint of the Earth centered Solarian Empire.

“I hope someone is researching a way of making wormholes that you can just walk thru and get there, “thought Nate wishfully.

He knew that they only placed worm holes far away from inhabited spaces. It took a lot of energy to produce a wormhole large enough to pass a ship through to another place on a galactic scale, so much energy that its destruction would obliterate matter in all directions for millions of miles and irradiate or scorch other matter for billions more. The catastrophe of New Burma Colony made that a rule. Memories of those sensory broadcast feeds from childhood haunted him. It was the first time he realized what burning flesh had smelt like.

Of course there were other ways to waste time during the trip, movies, sensory feeds, or network emulsion, but all those activities cost money. Nate lacked that this moment, just like most of the beings packed like sardines on this level of the transport.

THE END FOR NOW,,,,,

Star Trek Next Generation: Make it So....

I had so much fun making the BSG ship "So Say We All" design. I thought I keep the Sci-Fi series ship theme going with another favorite Star Trek Next Generation Captain Picard saying "Make It So."

Wakanda Worldbuilding

The ruling King of Wakanda, T'Challa, addressed the U.N. General Assembly and emphasized that the world had "nothing to fear" from his country and that their Vibranium stockpiles will remain under their control only and out of U.N. oversight. He assured that HE and his country are more than capable to defend itself from any group or government trying to steal the precious metal for devious purposes.

Black Panther Movie Worldbuilding: T'Challa Bill Y'all!

If you have listened to the WU-TANG Clan you are familiar with the classic hip-hop song "C.R.E.A.M. - Cash Rules Everything Around Me.", then you know how important currency is to the world in which we live. The same is true for the worlds or societies in comic books. In an effort to continue my world building for Wakanda and Marvel's Black Panther Movie, I thought visualize what some of that Wakandan currency looks like. Here is a 100 Wakandan dollar bill featuring the King himself, T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman)

The Black Panther Movie

Hey Marvel, you know it's never too early to start world building... especially for Wakanda!! How about a gold commemorative coronation coin for King T'Challa? Tony Stark with all his toys and tech will never see his face on his own currency.

Come on 2017.

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

I think the only movie I am looking forward to seeing this year is Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens. Unfortunately that movie doesn't come out till the end of the year, and I have been purposely not trying to follow to closely the plot details or character descriptions because I really want to be surprised as to what JJ Abrams delivered on screen. I already have low expectations because the self hype I felt when the Prequels came out was diminished greatly by the final production. Still this new film has sparked the creative fire for my favorite Star Wars film: The Empire Strikes Back.

Unbreakable the movie

I haven't posted in a while....

Here's an alternative movie poster for M. Night Shyamalan's masterpiece "Unbreakable". I created to get the creative juices flowing again.

To me this movie is an underrated classic. It elevated the Superhero movie genre and was a direct reason for the development of the TV series "Heroes" (IMHO). Sam. L Jackson had some of the best lines and acting in this movie. His character summed up my feeling about the importance of Comic Book drawings: "This is a piece of art!". M. Night was still on his game with pacing, cinematography, dialogue, and plot.
