Who knows...maybe they do!Boothby171https://www.blogger.com/profile/06988948433047453335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-117604721423659616.post-29636154270151488962013-04-19T15:41:59.290-07:002013-04-19T15:41:59.290-07:00agreed!agreed!PetraAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04048736991391975807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-117604721423659616.post-54438381272020795652013-04-19T15:40:50.933-07:002013-04-19T15:40:50.933-07:00It seems to me that this design will make for some...It seems to me that this design will make for some amazing cinematic shots however it will make the battle room seem much more oriented with the earth creating a constant down. If Ender happens to always have his enemy's gate towards Earth then the enemy's gate will be down, but for that to happen everything would seem a bit staged don't you think. In the book it also mentions that the teachers could control the amount of light allowed into the battle room which would be impossible in a clear room. My concern with ...Amazing work, as always, Darian!

My concern with Gavin Hood's design remains this: the "Enemy's Gate" is no longer "Down." The earth is. The earth becomes (to horribly shred the metaphor) the elephant just outside the room.

No matter what our intrepid young soldiers think, or how they force a change on their perspective, the earth will always be there, stealing the show. What might be even MORE problematic is how does Gavin Hood get US to change OUR perspective, when we are always seeing the earth below us, drifting, falling. Floating weightless, calling, calling home...
Boothby171https://www.blogger.com/profile/06988948433047453335noreply@blogger.com
