Major Rackham: Major Bad Ass (IF Propaganda)

The trailer got me HYPED.  I'm back on creating some IF Propaganda again...

Major Rackham from teh Ender;s Game Movie played by Ben Kingsley artwork by Darian Robbins
Man, I told myself I would stop once the official graphic design stuff started coming out, but I'm not satisfied with what I am seeing. I know it's early,in the marketing campaign, but I need something with a little more edge. Ya feel me?

The Real International Fleet Symbol

The Ender's Game Production Blog finally made their update and it was a good one. We finally get a peek at the official symbol for the International Fleet, the military organization that protects humanity and runs the Battle School in Ender's Game.

I can dig it. To me it has got a Roman Empire dictatorially feel to it, which is how I feel the Fleet probably acts in the Ender Universe. Afterall, they can monitor you kids electronically and take them away from you to train them for war and humanity's defense. I wonder if the designs and stars have any meaning?

Back when I imagined what The International Fleet Logo would look like I created this:

For the Ender's Game Comics produced by Marvel it got beefed up to this:

Which is grittier than the movie design. Also, my design composed of a crest and shield arrangement with a star rising above a stylized Earth and a winged shield in the foreground. The shield meanings were a description of the IF's purpose of the defense of humanity. The wings and the star were to symbolize space where IF held vigilance. I also had three bold lines that formed the star to symbolize the 3 leadership positions of Earth , the Polemarch, the Strategos, and the Hegemon, working in concert. Pretty good, huh? (Pats Back) At times I can't believe how geeked out I sound about this kind of stuff.

Here is a better view of the insignia. So tell me is everything that you imagined?

More old Ender's Game (Fan) Work!

Ooh, I found some more old Ender's Game Artwork. This had to be done around 2000 or 2001? These images were apart of a packet I entitled "Philotic Visions" it was a collection of all my EG related imagery I created and gave (and he accepted) at EnderCon in 2002

Did you know there was a ENDERCON?

Did you know that there was an Endercon in 2002? Yes, an actual convention celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of the short story that Orson Scott Card would expand into Ender's GameI created the logo for the convention that was used on T-shirts and other items. That was also where the Battle School Army Logo  T-shirts were sold as well. I will dig up pictures and post them later. In the mean time, if you still need Orson Scott Card sanctioned Ender gear, visit the Hatrack Store on Cafe Press here:http://www.cafepress.com/hatrackriver

Ender's Game Battle Suits

Drawing of Ender's Game Flash Suit Concept by Darian Robbins
This was another design I had for the Ender's Game Battle Suits. It had more of a motorcycle suit feel to it and it would of been filled with padding to protect the kids from injuries sustained by collisions. In Zero-G it is hard to slow down, neh?

Battle School Logo

When they adapted Ender's Game to the Comic Books Orson Scott Card approached me about using my insignia designs for the Battle School into the series:

This was my design for the Battle School:

Battle School Logo Insiginia by Darian Robbins inspired by Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

This what it was transformed too as a variant cover for the Comic Book Adaptation by an amazing artist Emily Warren http://www.frozenlilacs.com/

This appeared on the Variant cover for Ender's Game comic book series: http://marvel.com/comic_books/issue/22364/enders_game_2008_1_symbol_variant

If you look inside the front cover of the entire Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow series and look under the Special thanks section you will see my name.
